An English-text version of a poster made in 1972 at Frelimo’s Dar es Salaam headquarters, to commemorate the launch of the Armed Struggle. The photograph of Samora Machel and a peasant armed with bow and arrow was taken in one of the Liberated Zones. The smiling pair showed international viewers that the war had popular support and that residents were ready to participate.
