This poster celebrates Frelimo’s formal relaunch as a Marxist-Leninist vanguard party, at the Third Congress in 1977. In the image, black and white figures unite as red under the party insignia, designed by DNPP director José Freire. The colour scheme evokes Frelimo’s promise to combat racism, as an integral part of the broader commitment to overcome a exploração do homem pelo homem (the exploitation of man by man). In the 1960s and 1970s, Frelimo welcomed supporters of all colours and ethnicities, the only condition being that everyone shared the movement’s values.
