Whilst they received broad-based international support, Frelimo prioritised reciprocating with gestures of solidarity with the socialist world and ongoing anti-colonial struggles. Celebrations for International Workers Day on May 1st offered an opportunity to demonstrate this commitment, by affirming kinship with the workers of the world.
